Le Quercy

(in occitan Carcin [ kar?si, k?r??i ]) is a province of France whose extent corresponded to the area of influence of the antique quoted of Cadurques (Cadurci), energy of Souillac with Montauban while passing by Figeac and having for Cahors capital. It corresponded roughly to the department of the Batch at the time of its creation in 1789 until an important part of white Quercy was detached of this department at the time of the creation of the Tarn-and-Garonne in 1808. Quercy corresponds to the territory occupied by the Gallic tribe of Cadurques, i.e. with the Gallo-Roman civitas whose limits were adopted by the dioceses, in Cahors as in all the old cities, then by the French Republic at the time of the department division in 1789
